Translated automatically

The Road to Wealth board game competition supports the development of financial literacy, career education (OSV) and the development of key competencies (especially entrepreneurship competencies) for students in grades 7–12.

🏆
Prize: The Road to Wealth board game and other prizes from competition partners

in partnership with Místona

Students will understand the difference between employment and entrepreneurship, become familiar with various investment options and other sources of (passive) income. They will realize what skills a person needs to develop in order to pursue the path to wealth and personal (not just financial) prosperity. They will learn that desire (dreams) is the driving force of success and that opportunities come along the way, but their window is only open for a limited time.

How to get involved:

  • To participate in the competition, you must have the Road to Wealth board game.
  • Students compete in teams of 2–5 players (under the guidance of a teacher or parent).
  • Register your team at https://forms.gle/gBg9dtcmJnzKXBSP7.
  • Upload completed tasks to the application under the Road to Wealth category.

COMPETITION MECHANISM

In the basic part of the competition, teams complete tasks through which they gradually become familiar with the individual principles of the Road to Wealth board game. One theme/principle is announced each month, along with associated tasks. For each task, a team can earn game coins – so-called chechaks. If the team completes (submits) the given task by the end of the given month, it receives bonus chechaks (otherwise tasks can be completed anytime until the end of the competition). The main task (without which it is not possible to advance to the finals) is then the "business plan" – a plan for how a selected character (profession) can fulfill their dreams (desires).

FINALS

10–15 teams in each category will advance to the finals based on the highest number of chechaks. It takes place in person in Prague (each category separately). Finalists will present their character and their "business plan" to an expert jury and (especially) will present the (principles) they learned in the competition and how it relates to their real lives.

THEMES:

  • THEME 1: Professions and necessary skills (October)
  • THEME 2: Dreams (aspirations) and their financial expression (November)
  • THEME 3: Skills on the road to wealth and how to develop them (December)
  • THEME 4: Opportunities and how to seize them in time (January)
  • THEME 5: Investments in the game and beyond (February)
  • THEME 6: Events or what can happen (March)
  • THEME 7: Fears that can paralyze us (April)

TASKS for Theme 1: Professions and necessary skills

At the beginning of the Road to Wealth game, you choose (draw) a profession – this represents your character, which you will play the game as.

  1. Look at the Profession cards. Select 3, compare them and answer these questions:
  • What is the difference in salary and expenses (and thus cash flow) of the individual professions?
  • What determines (in general) the level of salary/wages?
  • What is included in these expenses?
  • What skills do individual professions have and why? – select 1 profession and describe what each skill specifically means for it (e.g., what strategic thinking means for an accountant)
  1. Create your own profession card. Choose the dream profession of one of you and create your own card. Think about what skills that profession must have and research how high the salary for these professions is. If this profession exists in the game, then compare your card with the game card and describe (and justify) the differences.
